My Story
Hi there! I'm Min Jun Won, the chef behind Chicken by Won! My food story started when I was a kid, I remember spending a lot of time with my Grandma who was an incredible chef. I loved watching her cook & observe her actions as she cooks the most delicious & authentic Chinese food for our big family! The kitchen was my playground & it was really fun to be my grandma’s little kitchen assistant. Having a big brother whose an artisan chef & a well-respected restauranteur have also inspired me in some ways.
While studying in the UK, me and my few friends sold chicken rice called Jun’s Chicken in pop up stores. We sold few hundred boxes in a day & it truly fired my passion in serving people.
Fast forward to April, as I was in my final term of being a Economics & Finance student, I rushed home to Malaysia, did my home quarantine & exams. That’s when I decided to take the leap of faith just the weekend after my exams to start Chicken by Won.
We serve Authentic Hainanese Chicken Rice & it’s so close to my heart as it’s my Grandma’s recipe. I’ve always loved eating & cooking chicken rice. I believe not only the chicken has to be good, but the chilli sauce, ginger garlic sauce & chicken soy sauce all has to go together in harmony. My goal is to serve YOU & bring YOU a taste of joy, this is our promise to you.
